The personal issue I have with DSO and other knock off bands is that at no level of my conscious thought can I form the belief that it's connected to reality. On the other hand, I find it very appealing for someone out of the blue to come in, do a cover, and make it their own. For it to get my attention it usually must be a big surprise and come from someone that's not of the same genre...like Elvis Costello doing Ship of Fools.

I also became a huge fan of Jackie Greene with PAF last tour, rather than comparing the PAF experience with the old incarnation of the Dead. In this case, Phil became the problem, or his singing anyway.

Ship of fools was about all I had left to sa these last 14 years .But lately,as I hear you all talking again, there may be intesting stuff to speak about,yes ? time wil tell !!!
